How our wheel picks a winner
- When you spin, your browser asks its built-in cryptographic random number generator (
crypto.getRandomValues) for a number. This is the same source browsers use to create encryption keys. - That number chooses the winner. With equal entries each one has exactly the same chance, and we use rejection sampling so there is no rounding bias.
- The animation is then calculated to land on that winner’s slice, at a random spot inside it. Spin speed, how hard you click, and timing have no effect on the result.
- Everything happens on your device. No server is involved, so nobody, including us, can steer a result.
Test the randomness yourself
This runs the exact random picker the wheel uses, thousands of times, right in your browser. A fair wheel lands on each entry about equally often.
Why it can feel rigged
Streaks are normal. With 10 names, the chance the same person wins twice in a row is 1 in 10. That’s common enough that you’ll see it often. Random results come in clumps, and our brains read clumps as patterns.
Duplicates and weights change the odds. If a name appears on two lines, or has a weight like *3, it really is more likely to win. Here weighted slices are drawn bigger, so the odds are always visible.
“Rigged wheel” videos are usually edited, use a different wheel, or use hidden duplicate entries. Our wheel has no hidden entries or secret settings.
How to run a spin everyone trusts
- Show the full entry list on screen before you spin, and use Shuffle so the order looks random too.
- For prizes, use the raffle wheel. It creates a draw receipt with a fingerprint of your entry list.
- Keep the Results history and export it as a CSV for your records.
Frequently asked questions
Can the person spinning control where the wheel stops?
No. The winner is chosen before the animation starts, from cryptographic randomness. Click speed and timing are ignored.
Why did the same name win twice?
Repeats are a normal part of randomness. With 8 entries there is a 1 in 8 chance of a repeat on the next spin. To prevent repeats, set the wheel to remove winners automatically.
Can you rig Wheel of Names?
Not this one. There is no hidden setting, secret entry, or trick that decides the result. The only ways to change the odds are adding a name more than once or using weighted entries, and both are visible on the wheel because the slices get bigger.
How do I set a winner in Wheel of Names?
You can’t choose the winner in advance, and that is what makes the result trustworthy. If a particular person simply needs to go next, there is no need to spin. If you want everyone to get a turn, set the wheel to remove winners automatically so nobody is picked twice.
Is there a cheat or hack for Wheel of Names?
No. The pick happens inside your browser using its cryptographic random number generator. Videos that claim a “hack” usually edit the list off-screen, add hidden duplicates, or use a separate “rigged wheel” site that is designed to fake the result.
How can I win on Wheel of Names?
Every entry has exactly the same chance of winning, so there is no technique for spinning. The only way to improve your odds is to have more entries, and in a giveaway the host decides that openly.
