How to make random teams
- Paste or type everyone’s name, one per line.
- Choose Number of teams (e.g. 3 teams) or People per team (e.g. groups of 4).
- Click Make teams. Not happy? Shuffle again for a fresh split.
- Copy the teams to paste into chat, email, or your slides.
Balanced and random
Names are shuffled with a cryptographically secure Fisher–Yates shuffle, then dealt out like cards, so team sizes never differ by more than one person. With 10 people and 3 teams you get 4, 3, and 3.
Want to pick team captains first? Spin them on the Wheel of Names, then generate the rest of the teams here.

Frequently asked questions
Are the teams really random?
Yes. Every shuffle uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, so any arrangement is equally likely.
What if the names don’t divide evenly?
Teams are filled in turn, so sizes differ by at most one. For example, 11 people in 3 teams gives 4, 4, and 3.
